The United Kingdom experienced its largest single vessel migrant arrival this past weekend, underscoring the worsening crisis despite Prime Minister Keir Starmer’s commitment to dismantle the smuggling networks operating across the English Channel.
According to the Home Office, a boat carrying 125 migrants successfully made the journey from France to England on Saturday, setting a new record. This incident surpasses the previous record of 107 migrants, reported in August aboard what was termed a “mega-dinghy” by UK media. The record-breaking arrival follows a recent report by Bloomberg detailing the first unescorted beach landing of a migrant boat in nearly three years.
