Seychelles will hold a run-off election between its top two presidential contenders after neither secured an outright win at the polls this weekend.
Patrick Herminie, leader of United Seychelles, the main opposition party, secured 48.8% of votes cast over three days of voting in the 115-island Indian Ocean archipelago. Incumbent President Wavel Ramkalawan, from the Democratic Union of Seychelles, got 46.4%, Wendy Didon, chairwoman of the country’s electoral commission, said in a live broadcast on Sunday.
